Terms of Use
In short. WorkBox is a free set of everyday tools. Use it responsibly. It is provided as is, and its safety warnings are an aid, not a guarantee.
1. Acceptance
By installing or using WorkBox you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension.
2. What WorkBox is
WorkBox bundles small tools in a browser popup: clipboard manager, calculator, notes, tasks, color picker, password generator, converter, timer, stopwatch and Pomodoro, music player, text shortcuts, QR scanner and generator, image compression, an AI-answer blocker for search engines, and a website Protection feature. It runs locally in your browser. See the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
3. Protection feature: an aid, not a guarantee
- Protection uses local rules and page analysis to warn about suspicious, phishing-like or adult websites.
- It can miss dangerous sites (false negatives) and can flag harmless ones (false positives). It does not replace antivirus software, safe browsing habits or parental-control tools.
- Its warnings are automatic, based on rules, and are not a statement of fact or an opinion about any website or its owner.
- "Continue anyway" is your decision and your responsibility.
4. QR codes
The QR test in the generator checks that a code can be read on your device. It does not guarantee that every scanner or camera will read it, so test important codes (printed material especially) before distributing them. Only create codes with content you have the right to use, and do not use logos or images you are not allowed to use.
5. Your content and your responsibility
- Your data stays on your device. You are responsible for backing it up: use the export feature, because uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data deletes it.
- The password you set protects the key that encrypts your saved clipboard texts. That key is kept in memory only, so one unlock is asked per browser session. Your password and your recovery code are never stored, which also means nobody can recover your texts for you: if you lose both, they stay unreadable. Keep the recovery code somewhere safe: it starts with WP and is required when you type it.
- Encryption covers clipboard texts. Images, notes, tasks and the last passwords you generated are not encrypted.
- What you copy, write or save is your responsibility, including any confidential information. WorkBox cannot know what a text contains. Use "Private sites" or switch the clipboard off when you do not want something saved.
- To make room, WorkBox may compress older items, and when a storage limit is reached new items are not saved until you free some space. Exports and backups are not encrypted: keep them safe.
- Generated passwords are random, but you are responsible for storing and using them safely.
- Exchange rates and conversions are informational and may be delayed or inexact. Do not rely on them for financial decisions.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use WorkBox for anything illegal, to harm others, to infringe someone's rights, or to try to bypass the security of a website or service.
7. Third-party components and trademarks
- WorkBox includes jsQR (Apache License 2.0, modified) and a QR code generator by Kazuhiko Arase (MIT license). They remain under their own licences.
- Exchange rates come from ExchangeRate-API (exchangerate-api.com), under its own terms.
- "QR Code" is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED. Google, Brave, YouTube and the other names or logos that may appear belong to their owners; WorkBox is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by them.
- WorkBox is free to use. You may not copy, resell or redistribute it as your own, or remove its notices.
8. No warranty
WorkBox is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted operation.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect or consequential damage, or for any loss of data, arising from the use of or inability to use WorkBox. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud or intentional misconduct, for gross negligence, or for death or personal injury, nor the rights that mandatory consumer law gives you where you live.
10. Changes
These terms may be updated with new versions of the extension. Continuing to use WorkBox after an update means you accept the updated terms.
11. General
If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force. These terms are governed by the law of Costa Rica, without removing the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. For any question, use the support contact shown on WorkBox's page in the extension store.
